I haven't been very good at art blogging lately. Unfortunately, work stress and a sick baby have been taking up most of my time. My poor little girl has had gastro, but she's a lot better today, so hopefully she will be all better soon.
Anyway, I thought I'd just do a really quick pencil sketch, just so I could do something. I feel miserable if I don't get to draw at least once a week.
I drew a glass of water on the coffee table with a pen and a piece of paper behind it. I didn't realise until I sat down to draw that the water not only bent the image of the pen and the paper, but it reflected it as well. It was quite hard to draw. Obviously, both the glass and the water are "clear". I was thinking as I drew how precious water is. We have a drought here in Australia at the moment: clean and clear water should never be taken for granted.

great one tiger mouse....great reflection of the pen! very nice!
Beautifully clear!
Hope your baby gets better soon :)
This is beautiful, its so realistic I'm amazed you used only colour pencils for it. Its so real, especially the way the the image of the pen in refracted in the water... I'm sorry your baby's unwell, hope she gets well soon. Drought sucks. We're having a lot of that too back home...
clearly beautiful...love it...so realistic!!!
hard or not u did a great job doing it beutiful work
A wonderful, reflective piece. I hope your little girl is better now.
this is classically lovely
excellent job here--loved looking at your work at Flickr too
I like the simplicity of the illustration. It makes me appreciate the beauty of the water and how although you cannot see it directly it makes what you see beyond it more interesting.
Very nice illo....hugs to baby girl!
cool drawing - very interesting about the reflection
nice pen!
Thanks for looking at my blog. Everyone needs to know who ben stein is, so I submit one of his most famouse works, via YouTube.com, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RcH-3d-BZn4
Thank you to everyone for (a) making nice comments and (b) wishing my baby well. Inevitably, I came down with the disease too, that's what happens when a Mumma can't stop cuddling a sick girl. We are both better now, and my little girl is back to laughing and getting into all sorts of mischief.
I really like this one...the composition is striking and the colors and drawing are so refined and elegant. I hope to see more soon.
AT first sight I thought it was a picture ...
You did a wonderful job here, I hope your little girl is feeling better.
